Monday Musings, May 22

Happy Monday Morning my friends. I am sitting in the Columbus, Ohio airport this morning as I begin my return home from a lovely weekend of attending my nephew’s high school graduation and visiting family. It charges my batteries to be with my extended family and so I am headed home full of vim and vigor.

Lucky for you, sitting in airports provides ample opportunities to peruse the World Wide Web…here are my findings.

I love this idea...a bouquet a day.  For whatever reason, the act of picking and arranging flowers is a very nourishing practice to me.

Do you wash your pillows? I do, but it seems I can only do it a couple of times before they need to be replaced…I like squishy down or down alternative pillows, so that probably has something to do with it.  Here a some suggestions for keeping those pillows clean.

I don’t know about you, but food waste is a constant struggle in our home and these 10 tips are common sense, but good reminders nevertheless.

Twenty thing we don’t do any more because of technology…I don’t know about you, but I sometimes I do miss ‘those days’.

How about some foods that might help cure some common ailments? I’m a big believer in the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric, but  some of these others were new to me.

I have a soft spot for anything thing that even sounds like Carrot Cake…so these gluten free, refined sugar free muffins sound perfect

I hope your week is off to a fantastic start.

Many hugs,

I went over to that list of things we don’t do anymore. So I can say that I still do numbers, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 15. The phone booth well I can’t even find those anymore… However funny story… Last year our son became a Marine and at the base they have “Family Time” which in this area -basically a shopping center there stood an open phone booth and this kid about 10 was drawn to it because he’d never seen one before. Anyways he couldn’t let it go and was obviously a new discovery. I sat there thinking…. I never thought in my lifetime the good old telephone on a cord would be so interesting. I miss a lot of those things because it was from a time when life was just less complicated…. less exhausting… I try to focus on the positive things from all the advances and then go about my day the best way possible. So far Monday is looking pretty great. Have a good week.

      Hey Carole,

I still have memorized certain phone numbers, I still call my kids to ask where they are, I do math in my head and I definitely still write thank-you notes. And I 100% agree that these things that are supposed to make our lives easier really aren’t! Why is that?

And as a Navy junior, congrats on your Marine son! No finer occupation…I am sure you are proud.

      Thanks for swinging by!

      Hugs, lynn

Lynn I had commented here but I don;t know what happened. Well One thing I certainly don’t miss is the big fat phone book that we had to haul around and then spend so much time looking for the names and phone numbers. And the print was tiny.
