Good Monday Morning friends!

I read somewhere that August is the Sunday of Summer…a sentiment I understand, but unlike Sundays, come late August I am typically ready for Summer to move on and make room for Fall.

My plants are looking a bit tired from the long heat of summer and I long to have my windows open again.

And yes, if I must admit, I’m ready for pumpkins and spices and sweaters and all that kitschy fall stuff.

Oh yeah, and football…I’m ready for College Football to roll around again.

It’s been a full week of empty nesthood and I’d say we are adjusting just fine.  Went out to dinner twice, cleaned out our garage, did a good bit of yard work and are settling into our ‘new normal’.

That being said, we are jumping back in the car on Thursday to drive 4 hours each way to celebrate the ‘youngest’s’ birthday…and since all he wanted for his birthday was to see his pets, yes we are toting Flora and Peep along. You know that line from ‘The Godfather’

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

In other news…

  • Did you read The Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? I read it when it was first published 8 years ago and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.  Fast forward 8 years and I sat down Saturday evening to watch the movie.  I remembered the ‘broad’ story, but not all of the details of the story and so was able to fall in love with the story all over again! If you haven’t watched it yet…do.  And I have to say I do just adore the actress, Lily James.  Downton Abbey fans will remember her as fun-loving and charming Lady Rose.
  • Call me late to the game on this one…like one year late.  BUT…did you know that the first time you place an Amazon order on Alexa you will receive a $10 credit off of your order?  I just wanted to see what happened if I tried to reorder a previously purchased Amazon item and was pleasantly surprised when Alexa told me not only had I successfully placed my order, but that it would be $10 less! Pennies from Heaven (or Amazon for that matter).
  • While we are talking Alexa, if you have one, what is your favorite task for her?  We LOVE that we can tell her what to add to our shopping list.  I use the Our Groceries app which integrates with Alexa…tell her to putting something on your list and BAM…there it is.  And you can designate different stores.  We have a Costco list, a Harris Teeter list, a Trader Joe’s list, a Home Depot list, a Michael’s list, etc…
  • Once again, call me late to the game, but do you ever shop at Tuesday Morning?  I was thrilled with 2 duvet covers I recently found there.  We’ve had one in town forever, as long as I’ve lived here, and in the 14 years never popped in.  Oops…could be dangerous.

Good Morning Lynn, I to am ready for summer to move on and make way for fall. It’s hot and dry here and my energy level is less than desirable. I put my baby chicks in the quail run yesterday and they hid under the kale all afternoon.

I can relate because there are days when hiding from the sunshine is survival. So I decided yesterday I need a hobby.

Anyways I’ve never tried the cut regrow process either with vegetables. Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Have a great week, safe travels and I’ll see you on Instagram. You’re fun to follow. 🙂

Kindred spirits Carole…it’s time for summer to hand over the reins to fall!!! And like you, I find myself really dragging this time of the year.

What hobby did you decide on?

And I’m enjoying watching all your progress (well, yours and your chicks) on Insta as well.

      Stay cool my friend.

      Hugs, Lynn

My hobby… Wait for it….. Watercolor painting.
Before kids well actually even before hubby I was an artist… Pencil drawing was my favorite but after the kids arrived I just boxed it all up. So this will be a journey to see if I can revisit a forgotten talent.

Oh My Goodness, The Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, is one of my all time favorite books!! I had no idea it is now in movie form!! I cannot wait to watch it, with a cup of tea and curled up on the corner of the couch. Now, if it would just get cloudy and maybe a little rainy….that would be perfection. 🙂

Oh Lesley, we surely are kindred spirits! I would have loved for it to be rainy…and cold and nasty would’ve been even better. But, that being said, you will LOVE the movie! Can’t wait for you to see it and let me know if you love it as much as I did.

      Happy day my friend.

      Hugs, Lynn
