Favorite Artists and their Art
Hi friends, In this virtual art gallery, I am sharing some of my favorite artists and their art with you.
We all like being surrounded by our version of ‘pretty things.’ My day-to-day emotions and well-being can be tweaked or altered just by having certain works of art to view. To that end, I have art in our home that moves me, sends me a message, or nourishes my soul. I also like art that makes me wonder, “What’s going on there?’ I have a list of several artists whose art does those things and some whose art is lovely. I already have some of these artists’ works in our home, while others are still on my ‘someday’ list.
I’ve collected several of my favorite artists in this gallery for your pleasure to view. I am not affiliated with any of these talents, I love their work and want to share it with you.

Karin Jurick is a self-taught artist whose figurative works just captivate me. I could look at her Museum series all day long. Each one tells a story.

I am lucky to call urban landscape artist Crystal Moll one of my high school friends. She was one of those people who knew her calling early on and never wavered. She now calls Baltimore, MD home, and many of her cityscapes, which she does on location, reflect that city, as well as other parts of Maryland, Norfolk, VA, and Charleston, SC.

The texture that Eileen Corse creates through her palette knife and thick oils are elemental to her paintings. Looking at her Water Series on a hot day would immediately cool you down.
“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Aristotle
Ah, David Arms…what about his art that I find so ethereal? The works of this Nashville-based artist are filled not only with spiritual symbolism but also with hope. And he is just flat-out talented!
Birds, vessels, and fruit figure heavily in Mr. Arm’s art. He explains the symbolism behind each here.

You must look twice at some of Abbey Ryan’s still lifes to ensure they aren’t photos. She takes simple, everyday objects and makes them something special.
I discovered Marti Higgins’s work in a Cleveland hotel several years ago, and she has stayed with me! I’m on her mailing list, hoping to acquire one of her paintings in the future.

Lynn, I LOVE viewing art and you’ve chosen a few very talented artists. I used to do art shows years ago and I can remember seeing a gorgeous painting at one of the shows that had a price tag that was over $5,000. I can see why all of these artists can command those prices.
Maybe we can find some time to go viewing an Art Gallery while in Atlanta this summer? Then again…

Thanks for teaching me about these artists. My parents and I also love art that tells a story. I get tickled when my dad shows me new art in his home and tells me the story that he has come up with.
