Week 2 ORC Update: A POP of Coral

“Move Along…Nothing to See Here!”

That’s a bit how I feel about the progress on my office this week. Two birthdays (with a third tomorrow) and a Hurricane have not helped me to progress as much as I would have liked this past week.

Plus…the truth is that what I’m doing right now in my office is to paint it white. So, even if I had finished what I had hoped to, all I would be showing you is a… white office.  As it is, it’s a pale yellow office that has been partially cut in with white. Ooooh…exciting!

I did make a minor change, well maybe not so minor, to my ‘Neutral and Calm Office’…which may force me to rename it. Just to refresh your memory, here’s my first mood board.

HOWEVER,  as is often the case with me, I came across something that has tossed that idea a bit.

It’s nothing earth-shattering. I mean, it’s a mere piece of fabric. And a solid piece of fabric at that.

But…it is the most gorgeous, rich and vibrant shade of coral fabric. In fact, some might call it orange, but since I don’t like ‘orange’, I’m calling it ‘coral’. ☺

Here it is on my in-process, being-reupholstered chair. I was just feeling that my office plan was a little ‘ho-hum’ so I went to a favorite fabric store with linen and paint samples in hand and came out with this fabric.

Just enough to make a little ottoman of some sort…haven’t worked out those details yet. But…to balance my room, I felt I needed to add that coral somewhere else. So…here’s my new and improved mood board.

What do you think? It’s still kinda neutral, I mean more than it is right now. But I think I’m going to love those pops of orange…I mean coral. Oh, and I may have also purchased a little piece of patterned coral fabric to make a wee pillow for my chair.

And, here’s a little tip…If you ever want to see how a piece of furniture or room will look if painted a certain color, Sherwin-Williams has a great program. I ‘painted’ the chest online to see what I thought. Here’s the link

So, my friends, I am confident I will have more to show you next week, barring an unforeseen hurricane.

  1. I’m excited for you and envious because I would want this office. Seriously. You are going to feel like the queen when its all done (as you should)
I liked you original color plan but now that I see the new plan, I like it even more. The coral brings a pop of happy. Great choice Lynn
    Have a wonderful week

    1. I sense you are a fellow color lover, so you get my need for color. My problem is reining that ‘color love’ in. I’m kinda revert to ‘the more the merrier’ which doesn’t always work.
And I am the Queen! (in my mind anyway), so this is my throne room!

      Hugs and Kisses…Lynn

  2. Lynn, Love the coral! The first inspiration was lovely but I agree with you – the coral brings a certain richness to it all. Can’t wait to see it completed!

    1. Thanks Joy…I’m excited about it. Finished the white yesterday and got 2 stencils up…and it’s gonna look so cool! Have to exactly figure out that coral ottoman…but something will come to me. Soon, I hope.
      Hugs my friend,

      Lynn

    1. Thanks Stacy … I am really excited about that coral. I’m most excited about painting that chest! I think it will be just delicious!
Thanks for swinging by today and hope you have a great weekend.

  3. Lynn I’m loving the white walls, neutral furnishings and this GORGEOUS pop of coral that you’ve decided to bring in!! It’s so pretty and HAPPY!! I recovered two chairs with a similar fabric for the last ORC and it was practically the death of me. One part is still not done because I had to walk away. You’re doing such a nice job…..could you come fix my bad reupholstering job? 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your progress next week. Happy birthday all around over there.

    1. Hi Lisa…I’m telling you, I have been stalling on finishing that chair…I’m at the point where I have to put those strips with the nails down the sides…for whatever reason it is absolutely intimidating me! UGH! But I am determined to nail it down (no pun intended) this week. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
All October birthday babes enjoyed their days, but we’re going to do another group celebration in a couple of days just to really make sure.

      Thanks for swinging by today.

      Hugs, Lynn

  4. Lynn, I LOVE the pop of coral. I was seriously thinking about using coral as an accent color in our bedroom with throw pillows. Right now I’m going with navy or coastal blue, but a girl can change her mind!

    1. I am living proof that a girl can change her mind! In fact, my family refuses to go to Baskin-Robbins with me because 31 flavors is just too many for me to chose 1 and stick with it. Coral would look great with that aqua in your room too! Thanks for swinging by my friend.

      Have a great weekend.

  5. Hi Lynn,

Flora looks amused by the room makeover and in typically golden retriever fashion has to be right in the middle of everything. 🙂

As a neutral loving girl, I really liked your original design plan. But…if the truth be told…I love the new plan even more. The pop of color is just what this office space needs to go from great to fabulous! You are gonna love your new office space.

    1. I know you know you know all about Goldens…they do have to be right in the midst. I’m reupholstering ‘her’ chair, so the one she’s in is a little tight for her…but she squeezed herself in.
And I’m really excited about my coral…I have a great plan for it!
Thanks for swinging by my friend. Hope you have a great weekend.
      Hugs, Lynn

  6. I am glad you changed your mind. I liked the subdued, but with the coral, it pops and sings… Good choice, can’t wait to see the next installment. : ))

    1. Thanks Lori. I’m pretty psyched about it. I LOVE your term, ‘pops and sings’…just a perfect description and I may just have to borrow it for my next post.

      Have a great weekend.

      Hugs, LYnn

    1. Hi Andre…my plan is to paint them a coral/orange. Iagree that white would stain too easily.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

      Hugs, Lynn

  7. Lynn I love the look of the coral and think it will be the perfect addition to your office space to add a bit of excitement! And to add it to the cabinet will be perfect! Looking forward to the next installment and glad to are safe.

    1. Thanks Mary…I’m chomping at the bit to get some of the other stuff done so that I can reward myself with painting this cabinet! Guess that makes us a special class of people that painting furniture is a ‘reward’.

Thanks for stopping by my friend.

      Hug, Lynn

  8. I love the pop of coral, Lynn! I think this is going to add a beautiful touch to your neutral and calm office. And I know what you mean about tossing your ideas around – I often feel like I’ve got things figured out one way, then come across an item that takes me in a whole new direction! But I am sure it is always for the better 😉

  9. Oy! A hurricane and birthdays would definitely hamper progress. sHowing off the painting stage is hard! I feel like it only really gets a time to shine in the reveal when you compare before and afters. I look forward to seeing what else is new this week!

    1. Hey Ariel…we’re plugging along here…hoping to have my reupholstered chair finished this weekend. Yours turned out so well, hope mine looks as well. I am enjoying the challenge of ORC…it’s surely keeping my on task!

Have a great and productive weekend.

      Hugs, Lynn
