Rifle Paper Easy DIY Art and Desk Accessories

Dear Rifle Paper,  Have I told you lately that I love you? Have I told you that your prints and artwork speak to me like no other? Oh I know, there are doubters who will question my infatuation for you; they will say things like…”I mean, it’s flowers…it’s not like it’s the Mona Lisa or anything” but they just don’t get it.  It’s more than just ‘flowers’…it’s the color combinations you so brilliantly employ, it’s the sophisticated simplicity of your prints…they are rich in color, but simple at the same time! How do manage to pull that off? The whimsy of your designs never ceases to pull me in. And you are always there when I need you. You knew that I had been looking for that certain ‘something’ to fill a blank space on my office wall and ‘bam’ I walk into a store and there you are, in all your glory, proudly proclaiming “Lynn, here I am! I am just what you have been looking for!” Many walked right by you saying, ‘Oh, what pretty wrapping paper’ but heard your siren song and knew you were destined for greater things. I saw you and said, “I will frame this wrapping paper and it will be the denouement and crowning glory of my office wall that has sat bare for way too long!” Yes, Rifle Paper, not only did I use your wrapping paper for an easy DIY art piece, but I salvaged a leftover piece and transformed some ho-hum pencil holders as well…my love for you runs that deep.

Always and Affectionately Yours,

Lynn

P.S. I even used the last little scrap and laminated it for a bookmark. Wasn’t that clever!?

Was that TMI? I mean, I hope I didn’t go too far in sharing my fangirl feelings for stationery and wrapping paper…did I? Don’t we all just have a ‘pretty’ that just speaks to us? Maybe it’s not really useful…but it’s just…pretty! Is it just me?

But the truth is, I do love Rifle Paper prints and I did have a wall in my office that desperately needed something. When I redid my office last year I purposely left it blank. I needed a break from the ‘busyness’ of what had been there and wanted to take my time finding something just right.

A frame and some beautiful wrapping paper = an easy diy art project

So when I waltzed into The Merchant at Lenox Square in Atlanta and spied some lovely Rifle Paper Company gift wrap…it was, as I often say…Kismet.

Make sure you measure twice before you cut...easy diy art project.

Easy DIY Art Project...frame your favorite wrapping paper.

One 19.5″ X 27″ sheet of Juliet Rose wrapping paper and a frame from Michael’s…a few cuts here…a nail there… and…tada…  It doesn’t get much easier than this…puts the ‘easy’ in EASY DIY ART!

I scrounged up some pictures from the attic to keep my pretty Rifle Paper picture company. (say that 3 times fast!)

Such an easy diy art project...using my favorite Rifle Paper Company wrapping paper.
My pen jars need a little love
Laminating the strips of paper before putting them in the pen jars will keep them crisp and clean
Cricut Vinyl Transfer Paper made this project so effortless

What I hadn’t counted on was a good piece of leftover paper…so of course, I had to use it.  It was just the right size to ‘cover’ the 3 jars that hold my Sharpies and other markers.  Can you say…KISMET!I say ‘cover’ in quotes because I really didn’t cover…I laminated the paper and put it inside the jars. The lamination will prevent the prettiness from getting bent or marked on. I used these lamination sheets to cover the paper.

Rifle Paper Company wrapping paper scraps completely spruced up my pen jars.

And then, because I just can’t leave well enough alone, I fired up my Cricut Explore Air 2 and made labels out of their gold foil.  This was the first time I have used Cricut Vinyl Transfer Paper and found that it did its job very well.

Quelle Difference!

(At this point, I think I should mention that it has been very rainy for the past couple of days in these parts…and when mama stays cooped up, things happen.)

So, do you do this? Start with one little project and it keeps expanding? And do you have a ‘pretty’ that just really makes you happy?

Rifle Paper Company speaks my love language so framing some of their paper for my own easy diy art and using the leftover paper to cover my pen jars was a no brainer. Adding gold foil descriptions with my Cricut Explore Air finished the pen jars perfectly. An easy diy home decor and diy craft project.

    2. Lynn,
I always enjoy your ideas and inspiration! Lately I have been trying to cover up my bare walls in my craftroom and love the idea of wrapping paper. What font did you use on your cricut for your pen organizers? I have already downloaded and utilized the handknit by ________ labels for my washcloths from your site! I have made several! Thanks again, Kelly

      1. Hi Kelly,

There is so much pretty wrapping paper out there, I know you will find something you love! As for the font, it is Lucida Calligraphy.

I am so glad you are using the labels and the patterns! They make such great gifts.

Happy Crafting and Knitting, my friend.

        Hugs,

        Lynn
